RIYADH, 5 May 2004 — Riyadh Governor Prince Salman has expressed his condolences to the family of Ibrahim Al-Qarni who Monday succumbed to injuries sustained in the April 21 Riyadh blast. Al-Qarni is the third son of Ali Al-Qarni to die in uniform.
Prince Salman praised the role of police officers in defending the security and stability of country.
“I thank God that I have given my country three of my sons,” Ali Al-Qarni told Al-Watan Arabic daily. They are Capt. Saad Al-Qarni, who died at the age of 29 when his military plane crashed two years ago, and Khaled Al-Qarni, who was in the navy and died in a car accident. Al-Qarni said his family learned from television reports that his son was injured. “Ibrahim was to get married during the summer vacation, but the terrorists spoilt all his dreams,” he said.
Al-Qarni said that his son was a good man and popular at work and with friends. He joined the police force three years ago and is the third of nine brothers.
“I pray that God will accept my son as a martyr,” Al-Qarni said, adding he would raise his other children to serve and die for their country too.
