TRIVANDRUM, 17 May 2004 — Authorities in Kerala have scrapped 10 percent of seats under the NRI quota in the government-aided engineering colleges in the state. A decision to this effect comes in the wake of a directive of the All India Council for Technical Education against levying heavy fee for these seats.

Also reserved are one third of the 15 percent supernumerary seats under the people of Indian origin and foreign nationals category, for the children of Indian workers in the Gulf.
