JEDDAH, 23 May 2004 — British missions in Saudi Arabia will stop issuing visas for Cyprus from Wednesday under new visa regulations being introduced by the island state.
George Kapello, manager of Cyprus Airways for the Kingdom, told Arab News yesterday the airline informed all local travel agents in a circular.
“Instead, visa seekers will have to approach airline offices across the Kingdom to complete the formalities for entering or transiting through the island,” he said. A visa takes less than 10 days to process.
The British missions issued visas on behalf of Cyprus because of the republic’s membership of the Commonwealth, he explained.
There is no fully fledged Cypriot consulate in Jeddah. Muhammad A. Al-Fadl is the honorary consul.
Kapello said visa application forms are available at all of the airline’s offices in the Kingdom.
