JEDDAH, 24 May 2004 — Pakistan Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali yesterday began a five-day visit to the Kingdom and will hold substantive talks with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah during his stay.
He will also meet with Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, and Interior Minister Prince Naif.
Jeddah Governor Prince Mishaal ibn Majed received him at the airport, according to a Pakistan Consulate spokesman.
The wide-ranging discussions are likely to cover steps to consolidate bilateral ties between Kingdom and Pakistan in various fields.
It will also cover the regional situation in South Asia, the Gulf, the Middle East, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Jamali will also perform Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
Before leaving for the Kingdom, Jamali chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad to review the wheat situation in the country.
Jamali was told at the meeting that there was no shortage of wheat in any province.
The meeting also decided to keep a strict vigil on the wheat and flour prices so that these essential commodity are available to the people at the approved price.
Talking to newsmen before his departure, Jamali said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy excellent relations and expressed the confidence that these ties will continue to grow in the years ahead.
This is Jamali’s third official visit to Saudi Arabia since assuming office.
