JEDDAH, 27 May 2004 — Malaysia Airlines recorded an operating profit of 171.7 million Malaysian ringgit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2004, continuing the improved momentum experienced in the third quarter. This is an improvement of 70.6 million ringgit over the same quarter last year. The improved final quarter result has been achieved as a result of increased passenger numbers, more cargo carried, improved yield and revenue, the airline said announcing this year’s financial results. The airline has delivered its best profit since listing in 1985 and was able to declare successful implementation of its turnaround strategy, despite the unprecedented onset of SARS in the first quarter of last year.
