RIYADH, 28 May 2004 — Two suspected terrorists were arrested and another suffered leg injuries during a shootout with police early Wednesday in Derieya province, 20 kilometers north of Riyadh.
Al-Madinah newspaper said special police forces raided a house where a number of wanted suspects were thought to be holed up. Sources said the two arrested men are brothers while the third is probably a relative as they all have the same last name.
Police found weapons and ammunitions in the hideout. They said the three were not on the list of 26 most-wanted suspects but did not rule the possibility that they were connected to suspects on the list.
The injured suspect was transported to hospital under guard.
Residents in the area said that they had not heard the gunshots during the operation between police and the wanted suspects, and added that everything was back to normal in their neighborhood.
