NEW DELHI, 3 June 2004 — Uttar Pradesh government yesterday decided to set up a two-member committee to probe the multicrore Taj Expressway project afresh. The Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday decided to order a fresh probe into the project following directives to this effect by the Allahabad High Court, state Chief Secretary V.K. Mittal told reporters after the meeting. The high court had earlier rejected the report of Justice S.R. Misra Committee and directed that the government could order a fresh probe if needed. The committee, having one member of the judiciary and another of other services, will be set up, Mittal said.
