JEDDAH, 20 June 2004 — Preparations are underway for the annual election of the Bag-ong Bicol-Saro nin Jeddah (BBSJ).

Outgoing president Billy Boni said the election will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Philippine Consulate grounds.

Boni said the annual election is customarily held on the month of April but it had to be moved because of the Philippines’ first overseas absentee voting, which was held at the consulate from April 11 to May 10.

Aspiring candidates for the BBSJ’s new set of officers are advised to submit their application for candidacy to Leo Trio and Raul delos Reyes. Deadline for submission is on Wednesday midnight.

“Let us once again unite and help one another in the spirit of camaraderie and brotherhood,” Boni said.

Bonafide Bicolanos who are not yet members are likewise enjoined to register and “help uplift the group’s aspirations toward a better future.”

One of the most active community organizations in the Kingdom, the BBSJ provides various services such as seminars and training on livelihood, among other activities.
