JEDDAH, 25 June 2004 — The local chapter of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA) held a cultural evening at Durrat Al Aroos recently attended by some 400 members and their families. AMUOBA President Nasir Muhammad Khan outlined a plan to assist underprivileged Indian children. “AMUOBA will pay the tuition fees of children whose parents are financially weak,” he said. The proposal won all-round approval with some families promising to sponsor a child each. AMUOBA also plans to extend this program to India and in particular to students of AMU. The program ended with the traditional “AMU tarana” presented by Aligarians. Sabir and his troupe presented songs.
