ABU DHABI, 25 June 2004 — Employment visas to the UAE will now be issued via the Internet, a senior labor official was quoted as saying yesterday.
“The move comes as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to improve its e-services and get rid of the manual system for processing labor transactions,” Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al Khazraji, under-secretary of the Ministry said.
“It also aims to provide fast and quality service and implement the newly designed ‘e-transaction’ concept in handling and processing applications for employment visas,” he said.
According to Khazraji, the electronic system would be operational from today, adding that some procedures required for getting employment visas were still processed manually.
“Applications are processed online. However, applicants still have to personally deliver other documents,” said Khazraji. He said within a short period the whole process of issuing employment visas will be electronically handled.
