MANAMA, 27 June 2004 — Four Saudi nationals were temporarily detained by security officials yesterday after they were caught videotaping sensitive installations around Bahrain.
The four — who were identified as Abdul Rahman Salman Saleh, 27, his brother Abdullah, 19, Salman Abdullah Saleh, 45, and Khaled Rashid Roqebah, 35 — were questioned by officers before they were released.
According to sources the videotape contained images of the Saudi and Kuwaiti Embassy compounds in the diplomatic area, footage of the King Fahd Causeway, the Muharraq Bridge, Al-Fateh Grand Mosque, and tourist attractions such as shopping malls and hotels in the heart of the capital Manama.
The men claimed they were tourists. No further details were available.
