JEDDAH, 28 June 2004 — The best of the 20 crooners who qualified in last week’s semifinals of the “Mediacom’s Search for Videoke King & Queen 2004” will be known on Friday.

To give spice to the contest, a grandiose presentation is being prepared with all finalists participating, organizers said.

The final contest is to be held at the Philippine Consulate grounds, starting at 6 p.m. Rehearsals are scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday from 6 p.m., and finalists are requested to prepare and submit at least 5 of their favorite songs.

Complete details of the criteria will be discussed during the rehearsals, said engineer Rudy Carillo, a member of the organizing committee.

A round-trip ticket to Manila, courtesy of Emirates Airlines, plus other prizes await the grand champion and other winners of this competition.

During last Friday’s screening of contestants, more than 50 crooners participated. The 20 lucky finalists were:

For females, Marife Balunsay (No. 2), Leonor Raymundo (No. 4), Caroline Jay Lopez (No. 7), Cherryline Suing (No. 10), Maria Theresa Galila (No. 22), Susan Belgar (No. 29), Marlyn Caspe (No. 35), Judith Reyes (No. 37), Sher-Adha Martinez (No. 43), and Cristina May Castro (No. 38).

For males, Fernando Bantula (No. 6), Primo Quiocson (No. 9), John Marimla (No. 23), Roland Palisoc (No. 24), Virgilio Ravino (No. 25), Jamel Sarsoza (No. 26), Armand Palaganas (No. 27), Bernabe Labao (No. 30), Vlademir Alamo (No. 41), and Arvin Vida (No. 48).

Observers during last Friday’s screening noted that of the 51 who participated, only three were disqualified for being “out of tune.”
