RIYADH, 29 June 2004 — Twenty Saudi technical personnel and instructors working for the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training (GOTEVOT) left for Japan yesterday. They are attending a monthlong training program organized within the framework of the Youth Friendship Program promoted by the governments of the two countries.
This training program is organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), according to Seiichi Miyoshi, JICA’s resident representative here.
JICA has arranged countless all-expenses-paid training and familiarization visits in the past. Japan has been working with 16 Saudi government agencies on a range of joint training and research projects.
This is the seventh group of young Saudi personnel to be invited on the YFP program, Miyoshi said.
A similar training program for 25 officials from the Saudi Ministry of Education took place in June last year. The Kingdom and Japan have forged closer cooperation in the field of human resource development.
