JEDDAH, 30 July 2004 — Norwich Union has paid a claim of over $3 million for around 11,000 tons of industrial ethanol loaded in the Gulf. The cargo was on the ill-fated chemical tanker “Bow Mariner” that exploded and sank within one and a half hours off the US eastcoast on Feb. 28 this year. The accident is currently being fully investigated by US authorities.
