Sometimes I feel sorry for America and Israel because every time a catastrophe strikes they are showered with curses until they have become the devil that is blamed for repeated mistakes.
A person is arrested and sentenced to jail repeatedly for drug abuse and the 11th time his “defense” in court is that the devil is what drove him to take drugs. And this person wants the judge to rule that to follow the devil and fall in this trap is not a crime because it is the devil that is the prime suspect. This “defense” is like when a murderer says that he was not in his right state of mind when he committed the crime because he was drunk. Or asking Interpol to arrest the Johnnie Walker factor in Scotland and hand him over to the country in which the murder was committed considering Johnnie Walker (a brand of whiskey) is the original suspect.
I must have written more than once about the Egyptian driver who drove around for six months without brakes and who did not want to stop for a few hours and get them fixed because he was a bit tight on money. And then one day he crashed into a truck and six of his passengers died. He told the judge, “Sir, it was God’s will that they die this way in my car, I’m innocent!”
Then there is the problem in Darfur, west Sudan, whose seeds were sown by successive governments before Omar Al-Bashir that “armed Arab tribes” implementing the plan that Saddam Hussein carried out in northern Iraq by replacing Kurds with Arabs to balance the population. And the area continued to boil for nearly four decades until fate would have it that the pot exploded two years ago destructively. And those tribes that are called Arabs did what they did not for the love of the government. They did so to replace the original tribes north and west of Darfur. Hence, the human tragedy the US — stuck in Iraq— came to hear of and to see a chance to reflect its humane face and to achieve what could give credence to George Bush who is struggling to stay in the White House. So it entered the Sudanese arena with its full weight.
Actually the US today is standing at the heart of Darfur’s events and American hearts are not bleeding for the people of Darfur or the people of Sudan in general, but who paved the way for them there?
In Palestine, the nationalis forces continued to ruin and confuse everything as they liked until it backfired and Israel is the scapegoat. Is Israel the one that established 13 Palestinian security systems? Is Israel the one that embezzled hundreds of millions? Is Israel responsible for placing government affairs in the West Bank and Gaza in the hands of anyone in particular?
Stop being ridiculous and making light of our minds so that the devils, Washington and Israel, do not become super powers to be sympathized with.
