JEDDAH, 29 August 2004 — A Saudi woman from Madinah surprised her husband recently by offering him a “strange” gift — one more wife to add to his existing three, Okaz Arabic daily reported. The paper said, “The woman who was his first wife came up with the idea and sought his support when the other wives turned against her.” The husband could not believe that his wife presented him with the offer; she also agreed to pay the wedding expenses which, she said, could be held in one of Madinah’s best wedding halls.
