RIYADH, 15 September 2004 — In order to impart quality education on the model of India’s Delhi Public School (DPS), the Riyadh-based DPS has recruited some 35 trained teachers from India, who will be shortly joining the school’s faculty.
In the first phase, eight teachers will be arriving within a week, DPS Principal Zeenath Khader said here yesterday.
DPS Convener Akhtar Siddiqui was also present. Zeenath said that a short-term counseling program for parents will be organized at the school which has reported a growing number of enrollments.
She said that a number of students from the US, Pakistan, Sudan, Somalia, Burma and other countries have been admitted at different levels in the school.
Zeenath said that the selected teachers have already undergone an orientation program organized by the DPS Society at the Institute of Higher Education in Delhi.
She said that Riyadh DPS is part of a chain of 120 pacesetting DPS schools that has the record of sending the highest number of students to medical, engineering and administrative services.
An educational tour for students to Al-Marai Dairy Farm is scheduled for Sept 23, she said. The school is also organizing a major function on the Saudi national day on Sept. 23.
An exhibition featuring the culture and heritage of the Kingdom through the works of students will also be organized on the sidelines of the national day event.
