QUITO, 4 September 2005 — Ecuador has resumed crude exports that had been suspended on Aug. 18 by protesters demanding a greater share of the country’s oil wealth, the state-owned Petroecuador oil company said yesterday. “The exports returned to normal yesterday (Thursday) with the first 360,000-barrel shipment by a US company,” said Eduardo Naranjo, a Petroecuador spokesman. On Aug. 18, Petroecuador called a temporary halt to exports after local protesters blocked roads and damaged well heads.
