JEDDAH, 19 September 2005 — Senior officials and insurance company executives will meet at Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry tomorrow to discuss employment of some 1,700 young Saudis in insurance companies.
Dr. Abdalelah Saaty, chairman of the chamber’s insurance council, said the meeting was aimed at discussing arrangements to employ trained Saudis in insurance companies, which have to Saudize 30 percent of their jobs in the first year.
Saaty, who is a professor at King Abdul Aziz University (KAAU) in Jeddah, said insurance companies have expressed their cooperation to employ qualified Saudis including women.
KAAU’s Community College this year started a diploma program in insurance with the participation of Saudi and foreign experts as well as insurance companies and the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the country’s central bank which regulates the insurance service.
