JEDDAH, 22 September 2005 — The Saudi Arabian Society of Arts and Culture is participating with two plays in the Cairo International Experimental Theater Festival. The festival, in its 17th year, began on Sept. 20 and will end on Sept. 30.
Two groups of Saudi dramatists will compete with other dramatists from all over the world.
The society’s Jeddah branch is performing “The Puppet,” with Saudi actors Othman Falatah, Ahmad Al-Samman and Hael Akeel, directed by Dr. Shadi Ashour. The play deals with terrorism, according to Abdullah Bahattab, the Jeddah theater manager.
Dramatists from Al-Qassim are performing “Relapse” which received good reviews at last year’s Jordanian Theater Festival.
