BHOPAL, 26 September 2005 — A report of the Madhya Pradesh Minorities Commission, (MPMC), has said that as many as 70 to 80 percent of the Muslim population in the state, which falls under the category of declared other backward classes (OBCs), is getting benefits like scholarships and reservation in government jobs. These Muslims are also getting benefits of educational facilities like reservation in admission to vocational courses, government services and in three tier panchayat raj elections at par with other backward classes. Thus, Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to have ensured various benefits to these communities as enjoyed by the other backward classes, the report said.
