Dr. Ali ibn Nasser Al-Ghufeis, governor, General Organization for Technical & Vocational Training, signed an MoU with Terry Johnsson, MD, General Motors Middle East, in Riyadh on Sunday, which aims to create a real partnership between the two in training and developing young Saudi nationals in the automotive field. The first phase of this agreement will consist of launching the GM Vocational Training program at the Technical Training Institute in Riyadh in cooperation with the GM University. The new facility, which is located in the Second Industrial City on the outskirts of Riyadh, is close to completion and will accept its first students in November later this year. These students will consist of new recruits from GM’s dealers across the Kingdom who will be sent for training and development prior of taking up their new roles. Among those present were Dr. Fahd Al Tuwaijri, vice governor for joint training, and Ahmed Abu Haliqah, GM, both from GOTEVOT, who will supervise the program, as well as GM’s dealers in Riyadh — Ibrahim Aljomaih, VP & CEO, Aljomaih Automotive Company, and Abdul Mohsen Alissa, chairman, Alissa Automotive Company, as well as Adnan Al-Khamis, strategic initiatives manager for GM in the Kingdom, and Tarek Suleiman, human resources manager at Aljomaih.
