Manhunt developed by Rockstar Games, the makers of Grand Theft Auto, puts you in the boots of James Earl Cash, a convicted killer sentenced to death, on the eve of his execution. Hours later, you awaken with a ghostly voice talking to you which has given Cash a second chance and freedom if he carries out few tasks. In this review, we’ll take a look at graphics, sounds, multiplayer and Gameplay.
Graphics:
Manhunt’s graphics are pretty impressive. The environments are very dark with gloomy scenery. The cut scenes are beautifully assembled. In addition, the animation, textures and models are wonderfully constructed resulting in excellent clean and sharp graphics and details.
Score: 9.0/10
Sounds:
Manhunt’s Sounds are magnificent. The music highly reminds you of old horror movies soundtracks. The sounds effects are up to standard and crystal-clear. The voice acting is excellent. Moreover, Manhunt contains a unique aspect, the ability to use a microphone. The microphone helps you interact with the environment distracting or luring your foes.
Score: 9.5/10
Multiplayer:
Multiplayer feature is not available
Score: N/A
Gameplay:
Manhunt’s storyline is basically about Mr. Starkweather, a filmmaker who hires you to act in his snuff and sick movie. As for Gameplay, the interface and gameplay are pretty much a combination of Grand Theft Auto, Hitman, Thief and Splinter Cell and depends predominantly on stealth. The weapons variety is vast. Player can choose from clubs, maces, knives, baseball bats, shotguns any many more. As for the levels, Manhunt contains 24 levels including bonus ones. The levels are pretty much linear; finishing one will grant access to the other. The AI is decent.
Score: 8.5/10
To finish off, although Manhunt is full of gore and profanity, it delivers the goods in all aspects; a compelling story mixed with action and stealth. Moreover, manhunt utterly reproduces ambiance from famous movies such as Se7en and John Carpenter’s horror movies. Manhunt is highly recommended to horror/gore fanatics and for adults only.
Overall: 9/10
