ISLAMABAD, 4 October 2005 — Pakistan will send 140,000 pilgrims to perform Haj this year. This was decided through an open draw here yesterday, sources said.
Private groups who have official permission to take pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for Haj will get separate permission from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The government is making all efforts to ensure incident-free Haj for the pilgrims. Strict procedures are being followed for the safety and security of the pilgrims, sources said.
