We have some government departments that provide seasonal services and they have been doing so for many years. Despite the duplication of services, these departments make the same mistakes every year. Officials in these departments do not hesitate to talk about avoiding mistakes and hoping for more positive results and benefiting from past lessons and experiences. It seems to me as if they intentionally repeat the same mistakes. Why?
Some people believe that the absence of proper scientific study and research is the reason behind the mistakes being repeated every year. They do not believe that there are mistakes at all and they act as if everything were fine. Those who work within the departments do not see what those monitoring them from outside see.
If help was sought from professionals who study things scientifically and carry out proper research, then people would be able to see their mistakes and arrive at proper solutions. Some people see the problem in the old minds in government departments which refuse to make changes or accept any new ideas or new procedures. They claim that since they have many years on the job, that they have the experience and the power to make the same mistakes over and over — without any questioning from anyone.
Studies mean nothing when dealing with these people and research will not uncover their mistakes because the biggest mistake is that they are still in their jobs. If they are not removed, the mistakes will continue to be repeated year after year. It is time for some genuine changes.
