RIYADH, 11 October 2005 — Saudi Arabian Fertilizer Co. (SAFCO) said yesterday its third quarter net profit rose 66 percent to SR344.6 million ($92 million) from the same period last year. Nine-month net profits doubled to SR818.8 million from SR408.6 million, boosted by a 12 percent increase in sales volume and by higher international prices, SAFCO Chairman Mohamed Al-Mady said in a statement. Mady said third quarter profits were up 45 percent on the SR238 million reported for the second quarter of 2005. Sales volumes were up 8 percent from the second quarter.
