MAKKAH, 14 October 2005 — Police inside the Grand Mosque in Makkah arrested a Nigerian woman red-handed when she was trying to steal purses and cell phones of pilgrims while they were praying. The woman resisted the arrest and pretended as if she fainted. Police seized a large number of mobile phones and purses from her possession. Police have stepped up vigilance to protect pilgrims from the gangs of thieves who prey on pilgrims.
