JEDDAH, 16 October 2005 — The Makkah Disabled Children Association’s charity fair began at the Hilton Hotel here yesterday and will continue through today. Entitled, “Hand of Goodwill,” the fair was declared open by Princess Hessa Al-Shaalan, wife of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah. The idea is to introduce the association and acquaint the public with its aims.

The event was not limited to collecting charity for the association; it gave many people and shops an opportunity to display their products. The booths displayed such items as clothing, jewelry and home accessories.

The event was organized according to the instructions of Prince Sultan ibn Salman, secretary-general of the Supreme Commission for Tourism. The prince is always supportive of the Disabled Children’s Association.

By the end of the first day, about SR500,000 has been raised. This included a donation of SR100,000 from Princess Hessa.
