Alcatel has passed a major milestone, having cumulatively shipped more than 70 million digital subscriber lines (DSL) to customers worldwide. This achievement represents a 40 percent increase over the 50 million lines cumulative milestone that Alcatel announced last year. Alcatel’s broadband access market leadership position is more than three times that of its nearest competitor.
Alcatel’s continued broadband access innovation and leadership is mostly driven by its Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) family. Alcatel’s ISAM family is the market’s first true 100 percent triple play access platform. Offering the flexibility to deploy a range of access technologies in various equipment practices and support a wide variety of services, the ISAM family is the most economical solution for service providers to transform their broadband access network into a triple play distribution network. In less than a year, over 35 customers worldwide have committed to deploy Alcatel’s ISAM products.
“Alcatel’s global channels and diverse product portfolio enable the company to defend its strong market position in the overall broadband infrastructure realm. Alcatel continues to deliver the product innovations and partnerships needed to maintain a competitive edge in the overall DSLAM market. With its massive installed base and unmatched experience in deploying DSL service with Tier 1 carriers across the globe, the overall Alcatel DSL access proposition can be viewed as the most comprehensive on the market,” reported Ron Westfall, principal analyst at Current Analysis in September 2005.
