RIYADH, 23 October 2005 — The Philippine Embassy is getting ready for the 4th Holy Qur’an Reading Competition scheduled on Oct. 27.
Ambassador Bahnarim A. Guinomla is supervising the various working committees for the annual competition, which will highlight the embassy’s celebration for the holy month of Ramadan.
Invited to participate are Filipino Muslims from various tribes in the Philippines as well as the converts.
Valuable prizes await winners in the competition, an event Guinomla started in Jeddah in 1996 when he was consul general for the Western Region of Saudi Arabia.
Last year, the prizes included, cash, round-trip ticket to the Philippines, and house appliances from some companies and banks.
