JEDDAH, 8 November 2005 — Bangladeshi expatriates observed their country’s 30th national revolution and solidarity day in Jeddah yesterday.
The program, held at the Consulate General of Bangladesh, started with the hoisting of the national flag by Consul General Ashraf Uddin and reading the messages from President Iajuddin Ahmed, Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, and Foreign Minister M. Morshed Khan. The meeting also discussed the significance of the day.
The consul general recalled that 30 years ago there was an unprecedented patriotic uprising of ‘sepoy-janata’ (soldier-people) to protect the country’s independence and sovereignty. He urged the community to remain united and continue to work toward the goal of establishing a peaceful and dignified nation.
They also offered special prayers for the welfare of the country and protection of its independence and sovereignty.
Bangladesh International School (Bengali Section) also organized programs to mark the occasion where the consul general was the chief guest.
