AMMAN, 9 November 2005 — Jordanian shares climbed 9 percent in three days of trading propelled by the heavyweight Arab Bank which scored substantial gains over the past few days following news that its capital would be more than doubled soon. The all-share price index of the Amman Stock Exchange gained 3.09 percent yesterday, hitting an all-time high of 9,348 points after crashing the psychological barrier of 9,000 points for the first time on Monday, dealers said. Yesterday’s gains brought to more than 9 percent the total rise in the ASE benchmark price in three days of trading, he added. The Arab Bank stock, which accounts for about 40 percent of the market’s capitalization, gained 15 percent over the past three days.
