JEDDAH, 16 November 2005 — The Court of Grievances in Jeddah yesterday postponed a scheduled hearing in a lawsuit filed by some of the candidates who lost last April’s municipal vote.
The hearing, which was to take place on Sept. 19 originally, was rescheduled for yesterday because the election appeals committee did not respond to the court summons.
Yesterday the judge adjourned the hearing again as the committee’s representatives failed to appear in the court. The hearing will now take place on Jan. 29.
In a letter sent to the general administration at the Court of Grievances, the appeals committee claimed that the court is not competent to look into this case.
Ehab Al-Solaimani, one of the plaintiffs, told Arab News that they had sent a letter to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah requesting his intervention.
