RIYADH, 17 November 2005 — Saudi Arabia’s Capital Market Authority (CMA) has approved capital increases by dairy firm Almarai and stationery supplier Jarir Marketing Co. The CMA said in a statement late on Tuesday it approved Almarai’s planned capital increase to SR1 billion from SR750 million. The company will offer existing shareholders one free share for every three shares they hold and will fund the increase by transferring SR250 million from retained profits. Jarir will raise its paid up capital to 300 million from SR240 million. Shareholders will get one free share for every four shares they hold and the company will switch SR60 million from its reserves.
