CAIRO, 21 November 2005 — Egyptian pop star Amr Diab was in shock when he discovered that one of his songs, as yet unreleased, had been stolen and was being distributed on the Internet. Amr was afraid that one of the songs from his upcoming album had been pirated, but when he heard the song, he found that it was not from his album. The stolen song “Sibtak” (I Left You) was originally recorded by Amr to be included in an earlier album, but the singer changed his mind at the last minute.
For fear of having his songs pirated, the singer insists on keeping all details of his coming albums a secret and refuses to reveal any information.
Amr worked with a number of prominent poets and composers to ensure the quality of his album; he also composed two of them himself.
