RIYADH, 22 November 2005 — The Pakistan Doctors Group (PDG) is organizing a medical symposium at the local Marriot Hotel on Friday. Pakistani Ambassador Abdul Aziz Mirza will attend the symposium, while Dr. Abdullah Sulaiman Al-Amro, chief executive officer of King Fahd Medical City (KFMC), will be the chief guest. “The symposium, sponsored by AstraZeneca, will discuss all aspects of dyslipidaemia and gastroestphaeal reflux disease (GERD),” said Dr. Riad Khawaja, PDG’s general secretary. The topic of the symposium is very important keeping in view the growing number of GERD sufferers in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states. Dyslipidaemia can run in families and is strongly linked to hypertension.
