Pakistan to Attend C’wealth Summit

ISLAMABAD, 23 November 2005 — After six years, Pakistan will participate in the Commonwealth summit beginning in Malta on Friday.

Pakistan’s membership was suspended the military takeover in 1999.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said Monday that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz would lead the Pakistani delegation at the Commonwealth conference.

Responding to questions about Pakistan’s proposal for self-governance in Kashmir, she said: “We have not changed our stand on UN resolutions on Kashmir.”
