WASHINGTON, 5 December 2005 — Prince Turki Al-Faisal of Saudi Arabia yesterday presented his credentials to President George W. Bush as ambassador extraordinary to the United States.
Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency after the ceremony, Prince Turki said Bush has expressed his desire to strengthen the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.
“President Bush also expressed his admiration of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah,” SPA quoted the ambassador as saying.
Prince Turki, meanwhile, called for strengthening the strategic cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Giving a lecture at the Military Academy in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, he said Saudi Arabia had made every effort for the success of the US campaign in Iraq.
“To achieve this goal, we have provided humanitarian assistance and set up a fully fledged field hospital in Iraq,” he said. He also referred to Riyadh’s efforts to achieve reconciliation between the warring Iraqi groups.
