The proof of the pudding is in the eating, they say. The ongoing development all over Oman provides enough proof that the country is well set on the road to progress and prosperity. Helpfulness and honesty are good companions to take with you through life. With the oil prices reaching an all-time high, the government deserves praise for making the most of good times. When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade.
There has been a chain of positive reactions after the latest figures revealed by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment and Water Resources in what is being seen as a bumper year for the country’s development. This year alone the ministry has already inked as many as 51 agreements to start various projects across the Sultanate aimed at achieving more progress in order to meet the expectations of all citizens.
The mammoth projects undertaken by the ministry are the latest addition to its impressive track record. To its credit, the ministry had, in the past, implemented a number of vital development projects across the length and breadth of the Sultanate showing a remarkable sense of responsibility and style to serve the nation.
The ministry is paying great attention to the road network as it is considered a lifeline of any development process. Built in line with modern and scientific specifications, roads always play a crucial role in paving the way for further progress.
The recent opening of Sohar-Yanqul-Ibri road, one of the most notable projects, followed by Al Rustaq-Ibri road linking Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah regions, have been the latest feather in the ministry’s cap.
These projects have made the life of Omanis and expatriates much easier, particularly those traveling to and from the capital; they are able to save a lot of time because of shortened distance.
The ministry has also been working on paving the internal roads as the figures since the beginning of 2006 show 349.5 kilometers of internal roads have been built and a total of 1,663 electric poles fixed. Many are on their way, and much more in the pipeline.
The Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment & Water Resources is also making serious efforts to refurbish various towns so that they look both modern and traditional. Various other projects will come into fruition in the near future.
The ministry clearly appears to focus on retaining the originality in an obvious attempt to lend a modern look to various towns and cities.
It seeks to depict a modern picture of our towns carrying distinct Omani class and culture and derives inspiration from the heritage of our ancestors and deep-rooted civilization. It is also cooperating closely with the Ministry of Tourism to develop tourist spots across the sultanate.
Apart from the comprehensive development efforts being made by the MRMEWR, it also undertakes serious tasks including steps to ensure health environment preservation in various regions in order to protect citizens’ health as well as maintain the modern look of cities. The ministry also ensures good organization of towns, clearing waste and monitoring foodstuff outlets and restaurants to maintain quality. The ministry inspects cold stores on a regular basis as its charter includes forming a complete system that reflects greater concern for the citizens’ health and well-being.
Enjoying all these facilities and services, the people all over Oman are thankful for what has been achieved so far by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment and Water Resources. They are also hopeful that the ministry would keep up the good work and go on to achieve much more for further progress and prosperity of both citizens and residents.
