JEDDAH, 18 April 2006 — A schoolboy was killed and five others were seriously injured when a rash joy rider drove past Abu Amir Al-Jarrah School in the Sulemania district of Tabuk on Sunday morning, it was reported yesterday.
Bandar Al-Balwi, 15, was on the pavement in front of the school when the killer car ran over him. Police have arrested the young driver of Yemeni origin and two others in the car, Al-Riyadh newspaper said. The injuries of the other boys range between grave and slightly serious. However all of them are in stable condition, according to hospital sources.
The parents of the injured boys are asking what the boys were doing outside the school when they should have been in class. They also want to know what the police patrols were doing while some rash youth ran amok in the street threatening the safety of everyone else, the newspaper added.
In another incident in Tabuk, a young man in his 20s has been hospitalized after shooting himself accidentally. Thinking that the weapon was empty, the youth pulled the trigger and the bullet hit on the side of his head.
