JEDDAH, 23 April 2006 — In a terrible road accident involving two cars colliding head-on, eight people were killed and three others seriously injured on the Tabuk-Duba road Friday.
Police said the accident occurred at Shagra town, mid-way between Tabuk and Duba. The dead and injured could only be taken out from the wreckage after sawing off the doors, which were jammed in the collision.
Six people of an eight-member family, including the head of the family, his wife and four children, died in one car, while a man and his wife died in the other car.
The condition of the injured children, who were admitted to King Khaled Hospital in Tabuk, was stable though serious, Al-Madinah daily said.
In another accident, a young man was killed and his elderly father and younger brother sustained serious injuries when a minivan they were traveling in crashed with another car and overturned near Taif.
