JEDDAH, 30 April 2006 — A novel seminar-workshop, called Complete Course in Innovative Fashion Design, will be offered to fashion enthusiasts in Jeddah and nearby areas for eight Fridays, starting on May 12.

The activity is being organized jointly by the OFW Cooperative Council (OFWCC) and Fashion Innovators, a group of professional fashion designers in Jeddah.

OFWCC spokesman Mohammed Isa De Jesus said Fashion Innovators will provide facilitators and lecturers, “who will share their talent and expertise in hopes of creating a breed of innovative fashion designers among OFWs for a profitable career opportunity in line with international trends.”

On the other hand, the OFWCC will provide lecturers to orient participants on what need to be known to run a business. These include planning, building up of capital, paper work, among others.

“We want the participants to also learn the nuances of going into business so that they would be better prepared,” past OFWCC Chairman Ernie Geslani, one of the group’s regular lecturers, told Arab News.

The OFWCC regularly conducts seminars on cooperatives, computer literacy and entrepreneurship under the auspices of the Philippine Consulate General.

De Jesus said the seminars will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. every Fridays at the Tropicana Restaurant on Tahlia St.
