JEDDAH, 9 May 2006 — Riyadh police arrested on Sunday four youths who allegedly raped a boy after abducting him at knifepoint. The perpetrators also reportedly recorded their crime digitally, an Arabic-language newspaper reported yesterday.
Police said four Saudis in their late teens abducted the boy from Riyadh’s Jazirah district and took him to a remote desert area Sunday afternoon, Al-Jazirah said.
A police source said the youths had found the boy in the company of another boy in the neighborhood.
They stopped their car beside one of the boys and asked him to get in. When he refused to comply, one of the youths pulled out a knife and threatened to stab him. The frightened boy got in and the youth took him to a lonely place away from the town.
According to the report, the suspects allegedly sodomized the victim and recorded the crime on a digital camera.
While the crime was occurring, the other boy ran to the parents of his friend and told them what had happened. The parents then reported the matter to police. The witness to the abduction also provided a description of the vehicle.
The car carrying the four suspects was stopped at a checkpoint after police sent out an APB based on the description provided by the victim’s friend.
A police search also found the boy in the desert and took him to a local hospital. An investigation into the crime is ongoing.
