JIDA is the new name in interior design and events management. With its bold, modern and very creative concepts and designs, the business and the gallery is making a place for itself in Jeddah’s competitive and expanding interior design business. Jida began operating four months ago and the official opening of the gallery took place two weeks ago at a well-attended reception. The founders of Jida, Majida Al-Toukhi and Honayda Serafi, are offering turnkey management and projects that are “exclusive in our design creation.”

The gallery features hand-made pieces of art and home decorations by artists from Lebanon, France and Italy. The pieces are unique and different and very eye-catching, especially the candles and cut-glass items. Eventually, the gallery hopes to feature works by Saudi artists and has already been in contact with Dar Al-Hekma College and its interior design department.

“We want young, active and creative talents. We believe in the young generation,” Serafi told Arab News. The dominant interior colors of the gallery itself are red and black, reflecting a strong presence. “We chose red and black as our colors because of their strength and attractiveness and distinction,” said Serafi. The name Jida is derived from a word meaning neck in Arabic, signifying prestige, and it contains letters from the names of the two founders.

The showroom is used also to display some of Jida’s own creations including small furniture items such as tables and chairs that are by special order for the client. The floor above contains the offices of the interior designers and event managers. “People now want professionals. We provide unique quality of work, on time, within the budget and up to international standards,” said Serafi. “We want to accommodate the client’s dreams and take them beyond their expectations. The clients have to feel that their spirits are in the project and that the final results are not alien to their nature or personality, ”she added. Serafi has a background in Islamic art and Al-Toukhi has long experience as a freelance interior designer.

“We are always up-to-date and we like to explore different schools of design,” said Serafi. They can organize, implement and supervise an event or only do a study and present an idea — as the client requires.

Their dream is to become a well-known interior design and events management businesses in Saudi Arabia and perhaps internationally.
