Jeddah Tamil Sangam organized a Literary Evening with a pattimanram (debate between two teams) recently at the Indian Consulate premises. Prof Dr. Parveen Sultana, a popular Tamil television anchor and well known speaker and researcher on family issues was the judge of the program.

K.G. Guna led a team consisting of Dr. Jayashri Moorthi, Ramachandran and Vijayalakshmi Murgesan. C.J. Shahjahan led the opposing team comprising Mythili Murali, Syed Raja and Rafath Siraj.

Indian Ambassador M.O.H. Farook was the chief guest and Indian Consul General Dr. Ausaf Syed was the guest of honor. They distributed certificates to the participants of India Festival function organized by Consulate General of India in Jeddah. S.N. Raja, Ganesh, Gunasekaran, Stanly, Sudha Ram Kumar, Pushpa Suresh and Harshitha received certificates on behalf of their groups.

The Jeddah Tamil Sangam will be contributing 100,000 rupees to assist poor students in Tsunami- affected areas for higher education. Sri Lankan Consul General, Masihuddin Inamullah was the special guest of the occasion. Dr. Imamuddin welcomed the gathering, Azad briefed the audience on the topic of discussion, Rafia introduced the speakers and Nizamuddin proposed the vote of thanks. Faisal Akbar Batcha and Afreen Azad were the masters of ceremonies.
