BEIRUT, 21 May 2006 — Lebanese diva Fairouz was back in the UAE to perform at the Emirate Palace in Abu Dhabi, said to be one of the most luxurious hotels in the world.
Tickets were sold out the minute the announcement was made and the performance was on Friday.
A chorus of over 50 accompanied the singer and the performance was closed to the press.
In March Fairouz held a charity concert in Dubai which attracted an audience of over 1,000.
The American University of Beirut has announced that it will award Fairouz an honorary PhD degree for her tremendous contributions throughout her career. She is considered the doyenne of all Lebanese singers and a role model for all to follow.
Fairouz recently held a charity concert in Montreal, which drew Canadian, American, and European fans. Her performance was lauded with the audience calling for more. While in Canada, Fairouz recorded a new single “Baiti El Isgheer” (My Small House), written by her daughter Rima Al-Rahbani and composed by Louise Gaste. The single was produced by “Planet of Performers” Production Company, which also sponsored her concert.
