JEDDAH, 21 May 2006 — A joyrider who got cold feet had a less than joyful experience when his fellow daredevils kidnapped him, beat him up, and photographed him in compromising positions, then threaktened to send the pictures to his wife, the daily Al-Watan reported. It is all too common in the Kingdom’s larger cities for testosterone-pumped young people to risk their lives and the lives of pedestrians by cruising dangerously and racing their cars on city streets like would-be Formula One drivers. When one member of a club of joyriding posers wised up, his fellow clowns decided to inflict revenge on him. In addition to the violence, they also told him to cough up SR5,000 for “betraying” the gang. Their ruse would have worked, but the young lad went to the cops after being released.
