MADINAH, 6 June 2006 — Members of the Commission for Promoting Virtue and Preventing Vice arrested 44 men and women while raiding various locations across Madinah in the last week.

In an operation coordinated by members of the commission together with the police and the passport departments, five different locations in different neighborhoods were raided.

A total of 32 women and 12 men of different nationalities were arrested. They were all unrelated and were living together.

Those arrested will soon be deported by the passport department. Director of the Commission for Promoting Virtue and Preventing Vice in Madinah, Sheikh Suleiman Al-Tuwaijri, said the campaign led by the commission was aimed at women that illegally live in the city and are involved in suspicious business.

Al-Tuwaijri called for the residents of Madinah not to harbor illegal immigrants in their homes or give them aid. He urged the public to cooperate with the police.
