JEDDAH, 17 September 2006 — As new satellite channels continue to be added to the enormous number of existing ones, competition is growing among TV manufacturers to introduce new technologies.
“There is a growing commitment among the manufacturers to the LCD and plasma TV market,” a senior executive of a major TV manufacturing company said yesterday. Now, there is an ongoing competition among the manufacturers to lead the digital revolution in CTV applications.
One such manufacturer is Samsung Electronics, which yesterday announced its plans to lead the digital revolution in Saudi Arabia.
“In its bid to develop the LCD market through a wide product offering, the electronic giant unveiled its new, advanced ‘Bordeaux’ and ‘Sonoma’ series of LCD panel televisions in the Kingdom in a bid to gain a 50 percent of its LCD market share,” Mohammed Asad Ali, product manager at United Matbouli Group-Samsung, told a press conference at the Jeddah Hilton.
Available in 26, 32 and 40 inch screen sizes, the Bordeaux range stands out as much for its picture performance and high fidelity sound as its superior design. “The range offers crisp, stunning and more vivid images, with a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000:1 and an amazing color palette featuring 12.8 billion colors,” Ali said. “The range also offers unparalleled picture quality that can be optimized for gaming at the touch of a button. It allows for an increased sharpness and faster response time for games.” With the introduction of the Bordeaux series of LCD panel TVs, the company now has a range of nine LCD models, classified into ‘R’ ‘S’ and ‘M’ series, based on their features.
