JEDDAH, 16 October 2006 — The chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Saleh Ali Al-Turki said the House of Business, a subsidiary of the JCCI, is currently working to raise awareness of the importance of strategic planning in all business activities.
Al-Turki called on the private sector to formulate and follow strategic planning, particularly against the backdrop of the Kingdom’s recent accession to the World Trade Organization. At the opening of the sixth Ramadan Meet organized by the Studies Center for the Development of Management Skills in collaboration with the Saudi Council of Chambers, which was held at the chamber’s office in Jeddah last week, Al-Turki said the House of Business promoted the private sector so that it could participate in the development of the national economy.
The house, which is keen to understand the needs of private companies and establishments, strives to make the establishments realize the significance of strategic planning. More than 200 economists and business personalities participated in the meeting held at the chamber’s office in Jeddah on Tuesday.
Abu Bakr Baashan, head of the studies center, urged all businessmen to realize the importance of strategic planning in making their business a success. Baashan outlined the role of the center since its founding in 1999. It is a center of national expertise to offer advice concerning the needs and developments of business establishments in view of the changing developments in the business world, particularly in managerial and personnel matters. He said “Strategic planning is vital to the success of any profit or nonprofit establishment as planning is the cornerstone of any management activity and therefore to its success”.
Those who participated in the meeting included Aed Al-Amri, chairman of the Saudi Council of Quality Control, Suleiman Al-Ali, consultant in the self-development program, Hani Al-Amri, professor of business management at King Abdul Aziz University and Mansour Al-Mayman, rector of the College of Technology in Jeddah.
